Obituary of Lillian I. Rogers

Lillian I. Rogers Unadilla, NY Lillian I. Rogers 95 of Unadilla passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. She was born May 21, 1914, daughter of the late William H. and Ida L. (Benton) Kelly in Brooklyn, NY. Lillian married James A. Rogers, Jr. on July 19, 1941 in Richmond Hill, NY. He predeceased her on July 1, 2006. She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney. Lillian enjoyed crocheting and donated her afghans to the church Harvest Festival every year. Lillian is survived by: Daughter and Son-in-law - Francine M. and John Groshans, Sidney Grandsons - Kevin M. Smillie, Port St. Lucie, FL James N. Groshans and his wife Amanda of Unadilla Niece - Ida Kelly, Basking Ridge, NJ Nieces, Nephews, Great nieces and Great Nephews Lillian is also predeceased by a brother, Joseph Kelly and a sister, Sarah Striffler Friends may call Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 6-8 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, October 2, 2009 at Sacred Heart Church Liberty St. Sidney at 1:00 PM with Rev. Fr. Gordon Polenz officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oneonta. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
