Obituary of Joseph Lukose

Dr. Joseph M. Lukose (Appachan), 74, beloved husband, father, and grandpa passed away Tuesday September 8th at his home in Sidney, New York. Joseph was born on October 17, 1940, son of the late Lukose & Elizabeth Maliampurakal of Pulincunoo, Kerala, India. Joseph moved to Padua, Italy for Medical School from which he graduated in 1969. He then moved to Ireland where he met his loving wife.
On March 27th, 1973, he was married to Isobel Watson in Derry, Northern Ireland. The two immigrated to the United States 40 years ago. He completed his residency at Altnagelvin Hospital in Northern Ireland, Falkirk Community Hospital in Scotland, and Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. He then served the community of Sidney, NY for over three decades as the Hospital's lone Anesthesiologist, treating countless patients. His dedication and compassion to the community will surely be missed. He also worked at Wilson Hospital in Binghamton, NY and The Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York City from which he retired in 2011. Dr. Lukose enjoyed reading, poetry, technology and animals, especially his dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Isobel Frances Lukose; daughter, Melissa Kreso (Alen) of Rochester, NY; son, Steve (Jillian) of Washington DC; grandchildren, Alexander and Anya Kreso of Rochester, NY; brothers Alexander and Xavier Maliampurakal; sisters, Anna Abraham, and Maria Thomas.
He has now joined his late brothers and sister James Maliampurakal, Kuncheria Lukose, and Kunjamma Philip as well as his 3 dogs Snowy, Prince, and Lucky.
Family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at CH Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12, at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Liberty St. in Sidney with Fr. Gordon Polenz officiating.
