Bainbridge, NY
James W. Decker 64 of Bainbridge passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.
He was born April 8, 1951, son of the late Byron and Leslie (Lord) Decker in Bainbridge.
Jim served his country honorably in the United States Army for 12 years. He was a trained helicopter repairer and a cannon crewman. Jim was a awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 service stars, 2 overseas service bars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Good Conduct Medal 3 times, and Sharpshooter.
Jim worked as a truck driver and was last employed by Healthcare Environmental Services in Oneonta.
He was also a member of the Bainbridge American Legion.
He is survived by;
3 Brothers and sisters-in-law, Byron E. Decker, Richard L. Decker and Charles M. Decker
and a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Cargill
Several nieces, nephews and cousins
Jim was also predeceased by 2 sisters, Mary Macumber and Mildred Cowan
Graveside services with military honors will be Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Maplewood Cemetery in Mt. Upton. There will also be a gathering at the Sidney American Legion at 1:00 PM following the burial.
