Obituary of Ronald Wayne Prentice

RONALD WAYNE (Ron) PRENTICE, 68, of Bainbridge, NY, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at home after a brief illness. Ron was born in Binghamton, NY to Robert and Pearl Prentice on July 3, 1947. He went to high school at Franklin Central School in Franklin, NY. After working the family farm in Franklin for a number of years, he worked at Agway Feed division in Walton, NY for 18 years. Later he worked for Coachmaster Transportation of Endicott, driving disabled children, for 13 years. Ron was a long-time elder in the Sidney congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was often invited for speaking engagements at other area congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses and for over 50 years he found fulfillment in sharing the comforting message of the scriptures with his neighbors from door-to-door in local communities in Delaware, Chenango and Otsego counties. Ron is survived by his wife Pamela of 47 years, of Bainbridge, his children Gregory of Malaysia, Jacob of Sidney and Melissa Lockwood also of Sidney, NY, his brothers, Charles of Idaho, Stanley of Binghamton, Kenneth of Wilmington, NC and James of Cobleskill as well as his grandchildren Alexis Lockwood and Mason Prentice and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Earl Hunt, and 7 brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on Saturday December 26, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on 8 Patterson St in Sidney, NY with Mr. Ronny Bogert, an elder in the same congregation, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of Delaware, Chenango and Otsego Counties at 5 Oak Ave, Sidney, NY 13838 and to the Sidney Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses at the address listed above. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, the dedicated nurses of Chenango County Hospice as well as to the congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses throughout Delaware, Otsego and Broome counties for their profound kindness and support.
