Dr. Saludo was the third of nine children born to the late Leon and Mariquita Saludo of Lipa City, Philippines. He attended Santo Tomas Medical School and specialized in Internal Medicine. Following medical school, he moved to the United States for a fellowship in New York City where he met his dear wife, Kathy, a nurse at Misericordia Hospital. They married in February 1966 in Queens and later that year, their first daughter, Janet, was born. They remained in Queens and over the next several years, Margaret and Tracy were born. The family moved to Middleport, NY where Dr. Saludo worked at Medina Memorial Hospital. Children Karen and James were born there.
In 1978 the family moved to Vandenburg AFB, California where Dr. Saludo was a Major in the United States Air Force for three years. In 1981 the family moved to Sidney, NY where Dr. Saludo worked at The Hospital in Sidney. After several years at The Hospital, Dr. Saludo started his own practice, Primary Care Medical Center. They loved to travel, both near and far to places that included Cooperstown, Italy, Spain, Alaska, Maine, and Saratoga Springs. Of late, they enjoyed summer family trips to Cape Cod, and the latest trip to Martha's Vineyard where 24 members of the extended family gathered to celebrate Abe's 80th birthday and his and Kathy's 50th wedding anniversary. Dr. Saludo was a loving husband, father, and grandfather known for his clever humor and quick wit. He was young at heart, and even rocked out last summer at a Def Leppard concert.
